Privacy Policy
The short version.
- There is no server behind this app. We operate no backend and receive nothing.
- No analytics, no advertising, no tracking, no third-party SDK that collects data.
- Your lectures and notes stay on your device, or in your own iCloud.
- With a cloud engine, the content you choose to process is sent to that provider — and only for that request.
- With the local engine, nothing leaves your device at all.
1. Who is responsible
AI University is developed and published by Alessandro Ferdinando Verrengia, an individual developer based in Italy. For any question about this policy or your data: aiuniversity.support@gmail.com.
2. What the app stores on your device

None of this is transmitted to us. We have no way to read it.
3. What leaves your device, and when
Speech-to-text always happens on your device, using Apple's speech recognition or a Whisper model running locally. What changes between engines is where the notes are generated:

The app shows you which of these applies before every run, and asks you to confirm. If you choose an engine that uses your own API key, the processing happens under your contract with that provider: the way they handle your data is governed by their policy, not by ours.
Provider policies, for reference: Mistral AI · Google Gemini API · Alibaba Model Studio. These change over time; check them before entrusting sensitive material to a cloud engine.
4. What we never receive
We do not collect, and could not collect: your lectures, your notes, your API keys, your name, your email, your location, your device identifiers, your usage statistics, or crash reports. The app makes no network request to any server of ours, because none exists.
5. Sign in with Apple
Signing in is optional and serves one purpose: anchoring the 3-day free trial so it cannot be restarted indefinitely. The app stores the opaque identifier Apple provides, plus the display name if you share it. Apple never gives us your real email address unless you choose to share it, and we do not ask for it.
You can sign out or delete this data at any time from Settings → Account & subscription.
6. Subscriptions and payments
Plus and Pro are auto-renewable subscriptions sold through the App Store. Apple handles the entire transaction. We never see your payment method, your billing address or your Apple Account. The app only asks the operating system whether an active subscription exists, and that check happens on the device.
7. iCloud
If you use the iCloud features, files go to your iCloud account, under your Apple ID. We have no access to it. Its handling is covered by Apple's privacy policy.
8. Legal roles under the GDPR
When you process a lecture, you are the data controller: you decide what material to process and for what purpose. The app is a technical tool acting on your instructions, and the AI provider you select acts as a sub-processor.
This matters in practice: lecture recordings can contain the voices and faces of teachers and other students. Making sure you are entitled to process that material — and that your institution allows it — is your responsibility. The app helps by telling you where the data goes, and by offering an engine where it goes nowhere.
9. Retention
Data stays on your device until you delete it: individual notes, subjects, or the whole app. We hold nothing, so there is nothing for us to retain or erase. Retention by a cloud provider you chose is governed by that provider's policy.
10. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, erase and port your data, and to object to its processing. Because everything lives on your own device and in your own iCloud, you exercise most of these rights directly: the files are yours, in open formats, and you can read, edit, export or delete them at any time.
For anything you cannot resolve on the device, write to aiuniversity.support@gmail.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority — in Italy, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali.
11. Deleting your data
Settings → Account & subscription → Delete account removes your Apple identifier, your display name and your trial data from the device and your iCloud Keychain. Notes and subjects are deliberately left alone: they are your files, not account data. Deleting the app removes everything it stored on the device.
Deleting the account does not cancel a subscription — that is done in the Settings app under your name → Subscriptions.
12. International transfers
The local engine involves no transfer. The managed engine processes within the European Union. If you choose Gemini or Qwen with your own key, your content may be processed outside the EU, under the terms of your account with that provider.
13. Children
The app is intended for university students and adult learners. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly process data relating to them.
14. Changes
If this policy changes substantially, the new version will be published here with a new date, and the app will ask you to accept the updated terms on launch.

Informativa sulla privacy
In breve.
- Dietro questa app non c'è nessun server. Non gestiamo backend e non riceviamo nulla.
- Niente analytics, niente pubblicità , niente tracciamento, nessun SDK di terzi che raccolga dati.
- Le tue lezioni e i tuoi appunti restano sul tuo dispositivo, o nel tuo iCloud.
- Con un motore cloud, il contenuto che scegli di elaborare viene inviato a quel provider — solo per quella richiesta.
- Con il motore locale non esce assolutamente nulla dal dispositivo.

Niente di tutto questo ci viene trasmesso. Non abbiamo alcun modo di leggerlo.
3. Cosa esce dal dispositivo, e quando
La trascrizione del parlato avviene sempre sul tuo dispositivo, con il riconoscimento vocale di Apple o con un modello Whisper eseguito in locale. Ciò che cambia tra i motori è dove vengono generati gli appunti:

L'app ti mostra quale di questi casi si applica prima di ogni elaborazione e ti chiede conferma. Se scegli un motore che usa la tua chiave API, l'elaborazione avviene nell'ambito del tuo contratto con quel provider: il trattamento è regolato dalla sua policy, non dalla nostra.
4. Cosa non riceviamo mai
Non raccogliamo, e non potremmo raccogliere: le tue lezioni, i tuoi appunti, le tue chiavi API, il tuo nome, la tua email, la tua posizione, gli identificativi del dispositivo, statistiche d'uso o segnalazioni di crash. L'app non effettua alcuna richiesta verso un nostro server, perché non ne esiste nessuno.
5. Sign in with Apple
L'accesso è facoltativo e ha un solo scopo: ancorare la prova gratuita di 3 giorni perché non possa essere riavviata all'infinito. L'app conserva l'identificativo opaco fornito da Apple e il nome, se scegli di condividerlo. Apple non ci comunica mai il tuo indirizzo email reale a meno che tu non scelga di condividerlo, e noi non lo chiediamo.
Puoi disconnetterti o eliminare questi dati quando vuoi da Impostazioni → Account e abbonamento.
6. Abbonamenti e pagamenti
Plus e Pro sono abbonamenti a rinnovo automatico venduti tramite l'App Store. Apple gestisce l'intera transazione. Non vediamo mai il tuo metodo di pagamento, i dati di fatturazione o il tuo account Apple. L'app chiede soltanto al sistema operativo se esiste un abbonamento attivo, e questa verifica avviene sul dispositivo.
7. iCloud
Se usi le funzioni iCloud, i file finiscono nel tuo account iCloud, sotto il tuo Apple ID. Noi non vi abbiamo accesso. Il trattamento è regolato dall'informativa privacy di Apple.
8. Ruoli ai sensi del GDPR
Quando elabori una lezione, il titolare del trattamento sei tu: decidi quale materiale trattare e per quale finalità . L'app è uno strumento tecnico che agisce su tue istruzioni, e il provider di IA che selezioni agisce da sub-responsabile.
Non è un dettaglio formale: le registrazioni delle lezioni possono contenere voci e volti di docenti e altri studenti. Assicurarti di avere il diritto di trattare quel materiale — e che il tuo ateneo lo consenta — è una tua responsabilità . L'app ti aiuta dicendoti dove vanno i dati, e offrendoti un motore dove non vanno da nessuna parte.
9. Conservazione
I dati restano sul tuo dispositivo finché non li elimini: i singoli appunti, le materie, o l'intera app. Noi non conserviamo nulla, quindi non c'è nulla da cancellare presso di noi. La conservazione da parte di un provider cloud che hai scelto è regolata dalla policy di quel provider.
10. I tuoi diritti
Il GDPR ti riconosce il diritto di accesso, rettifica, cancellazione e portabilità , e il diritto di opporti al trattamento. Poiché tutto risiede sul tuo dispositivo e nel tuo iCloud, eserciti gran parte di questi diritti direttamente: i file sono tuoi, in formati aperti, e puoi leggerli, modificarli, esportarli o eliminarli quando vuoi.
Per ciò che non puoi risolvere sul dispositivo, scrivi a aiuniversity.support@gmail.com. Hai inoltre diritto di proporre reclamo all'autorità di controllo: in Italia il Garante per la protezione dei dati personali.
11. Cancellare i tuoi dati
Impostazioni → Account e abbonamento → Elimina account rimuove l'identificativo Apple, il nome e i dati della prova dal dispositivo e dal tuo portachiavi iCloud. Appunti e materie restano volutamente al loro posto: sono file tuoi, non dati di account. Disinstallando l'app viene rimosso tutto ciò che aveva salvato sul dispositivo.
La cancellazione dell'account non disdice l'abbonamento: quello si gestisce nell'app Impostazioni, sotto il tuo nome → Abbonamenti.
12. Trasferimenti extra-UE
Il motore locale non comporta alcun trasferimento. Il motore gestito elabora all'interno dell'Unione Europea. Se scegli Gemini o Qwen con la tua chiave, i tuoi contenuti possono essere elaborati fuori dall'UE, secondo le condizioni del tuo account presso quel provider.
13. Minori
L'app è pensata per studenti universitari e adulti. Non è rivolta ai minori e non trattiamo consapevolmente dati che li riguardino.
14. Modifiche
Se questa informativa cambia in modo sostanziale, la nuova versione sarà pubblicata qui con una nuova data e l'app ti chiederà di accettare i termini aggiornati all'avvio.
